Navy Crews Heads to Oklahoma
Sept. 29, 2005
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One boat from each of Navy's heavyweight and women's crew teams will participate in Sunday's Head of the Oklahoma Regatta on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City. Both crews will participate in a 4000-meter race, and if they place among the top-six boats they will qualify for a 500-meter sprint at the end of the day. This will be the first racing of the fall season for the heavyweight boat, while the women's boat won its race at last weekend's Head of the Potomac Regatta. "This is very early in the year for us," said Navy heavyweight head coach Rick Clothier. "We are delighted to be invited to the race and we look forward to the trip!" "I expect the speed of our race to come from Texas, Kansas and
Kansas State," said Navy women's head coach
Mike Hughes. "It should be a very fast pace."
